Get Involved
There are many ways you can join the fight against ALS. Your support helps us improve the lives of people living with ALS in eastern Missouri and central and southern Illinois, while we continue to pursue treatments and ultimately, a cure for the disease.
BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Volunteers are an invaluable part of the ALS Association team. Friendly faces are needed in a variety of areas including patient support, office assistance, event participation and board membership. People of all abilities are encouraged to apply.
PARTICIPATE IN FUNDRAISERS
Are you an outdoor enthusiast? Prefer a party? Whatever your interest is, we have an event for you! The Chapter hosts four major special fundraising events a year The Walk to Defeat ALS®, the Swing for a Cure Golf Tournament, the 5Kimmswick Run, and the Ice Bucket Bash. Participation is needed on planning committees and event day. An army of event volunteers make for light work and just as importantly, they increase support and awareness for local people and families battling ALS.

HOST YOUR OWN EVENT
The Chapter offers a tool-kit and staff support for friends and family members who organize and host their own fundraisers through our Community Partner Program. Golf tournaments, bowl-a-thons, Ice Bucket Challenges and bake sales are just a few examples that make for a lot of fun and a wonderful way to be hands on in your support for people with ALS. The sky is the limit!

FUNDRAISE THROUGH FACEBOOK
Turn your birthday, anniversary, or any other occasion into an opportunity to support families with ALS through a Facebook fundraiser! Chapter staff has a solid understanding of how these fundraisers work and are happy to help you rally your networks.

BUILD A CORPORATE/BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP
Gifts from corporate supporters are crucial in the fight against ALS. Options are endless—we’ll work with you to customize a partnership that best supports your company’s philanthropic goals. Double your impact by pursuing a matching gift with your company. The process is usually very simple and ALS Association staff are happy to help navigate as needed.

SUPPORT LOCAL CARE
The Community of Angels Fund grant program seeks to reduce the financial burden of ALS for these families. Recognizing an unmet need, The Community of Angels Fund program was created by Mark Calmes, ALS Association Board of Trustees member and St. Louis board member, in honor and in memory of his wife Jane, who passed away from ALS in August 2017. The program will provide financial assistance for expenses such as respite care, communication devices, home modifications, medical care, and more. The Community of Angels Fund aims to help maintain the highest quality of life for individuals living with ALS, despite their diagnosis. BECOME A VOICE
