ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Progress

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. When you donate on Giving Tuesday, you support our Chapter's continuous efforts to provide service for families with ALS in eastern Missouri and central and southern Illinois.

This year, your Giving Tuesday donations will benefit our local grant-giving program, Jane’s Angel Fund. This program helps alleviate the financial burden for families facing ALS by helping with:

  • Transportation—as people with ALS lose their ability to walk, they require mobility devices to assist them while they continue to keep their world large, requiring transportation and modifications that can accommodate these devices.
  • Adaptive equipment—a variety of devices used to complete daily tasks can be the difference for someone with ALS asking others for help and being able to maintain their independence.
  • Home modifications—structural changes to the home – a place where people feel comfort, where memories were made, and where they feel secure – can allow people with ALS to remain living where they are.
  • Caregiver relief—along with people living with the disease, caregivers also need assistance and time to refill and renew in order for them to properly care for their loved one with ALS.
  • Reimbursements—because ALS is a very expensive diagnosis, reimbursements for items not covered by insurance, such as medical co-pays, can make a big difference.
